Outreach Apartment Needs
At the end of January 2011, we open 6 one-bedroom units in the apartment building on 15th street for a new outreach program. This program is designed to meet the growing need in our city for apartments for girls in transition. These girls, ages 18-24 years old, belong to the fastest growing demographic in our homeless population. Of those in that age range in homeless shelters, a third of them have been in foster care.
A staff member, probably a single woman, will live in an apartment at the entrance to the hall and provide supervision and support for the young women in the program.
We would appreciate your help in providing furnishings for these apartments. The needs are listed below. If you have any questions and/or donations for this project, please contact us at 316-942-3221.
