Transition in Leadership

Transition of Leadership at Carpenter Place

Effective May 17, Cory Long joined Carpenter Place as the new CEO and Director of Development. For several weeks, Cory and Shellee Morrison (the CEO for the past 7 years) have worked together to make the transition a smooth one for the girls and their families who are benefitting from the services that Carpenter Place offers, as well as the staff and many volunteers who make Carpenter Place such a special place.

Steve Clark, a Carpenter Place Trustee, shares his thoughts about the current transition:

“Carpenter Place is extremely important to many people and especially to Shellee. She served as a board member for about six years and was very involved and instrumental in many programs for Carpenter Place while serving as a board member. When the board was looking for a new executive director, Shellee was recommended for the position. She has served in that capacity for the last seven years. During that time, Shellee has shared the Carpenter Place story to hundreds of people and it always brings a smile to her face while sharing with others. When I think of Carpenter Place I think of Shellee and her many hours of dedication and hard work. Shellee, you will be missed.”

When Shellee notified the Board that she felt it was time for her to retire, the search committee interviewed several candidates for the position. Cory Long was hired as the new CEO in May.

Steve continues:
“Cory brings to Carpenter Place a new face with lots of energy and experience. The board is very excited to have Cory and his family here with us and feel he has the tools and skills to take Carpenter Place into the future. Carpenter Place has a bright future and we pray that God continues to bless us and help us to change and develop the lives of children.”
