CARPENTER CHRISTIAN LEARNING CENTER

The creation of the Carpenter Christian Learning Center represents the culmination of several years of planning and dreaming. This program allows the option of educating residents on our campus through the Eschool, an online school offering credits toward graduation. The small class size and ability to deal immediately with any behavioral issues creates a better environment for our girls, many of whom need significant remedial work. A chaotic home environment does not contribute to a good learning environment and many of our girls are one or more academic years behind in core subjects.

The Eschool program also encourages students to work at their own pace. So girls who are motivated, and may need to make up credits can do so at a faster rate than they could in a regular classroom setting. The establishment of an on-campus school means that each girl’s individual educational needs can be evaluated and addressed.

The Eschool teacher for CCLC is Joann Grunden who has 14 years’ experience in alternative classrooms teaching at-risk students. Her calm and consistent way of working with our students creates a positive environment in the school and the girls are making very good progress. We also have a part-time music teacher, Annie Johnson, who gives the girls wonderful experiences with music appreciation and singing.
